     No domestic service by Sunwing this summer

While there was no official notification, Stephenville Airport manager Larry Smith said he is aware Sunwing Airlines will not be operating a summer service between Stephenville and Toronto.

Smith said he learned the flight service would not be offered when an official at the airport called Sunwing and was told it would not be providing the domestic service.

Meanwhile, a press release on Sunwing Airlines website states it will be offering twice-weekly direct service from Toronto to Gander and St. John’s during the summer with no mention of a Deer Lake service.

Smith said it’s too bad the airline hadn’t notified Stephenville Airport earlier.

“They could have told us a lot earlier,” he said.

Meanwhile, another airline may be filling some of the gap left by Sunwing, however there was no official word as of press time.
